Heavy vehicle testing restarted at Authorised Testing Facilities (ATFs) on 04 July 2020. DVSA will be using flexible exemptions until March 2021 to manage testing demand. This means that:
3-month exemptions will continue for all vehicles that have not already received one
12-month exemptions will be introduced for certain operators
To get longer exemptions, eligible trailer and PSV operators must ensure their fleet is added to the Vehicle Operator Licensing (VOL) database by 21 August 2020.
What you need to do
If you already have a VOL account, you can add vehicles to your licence by logging in.
If you are not registered with VOL, create an account to add vehicles to your licence.
Operators should ensure their vehicle lists on the Vehicle Operator Licensing (VOL) database are up to date. Trailer data can alternatively be provided in an Excel file.
The following data should be included:
Operator Licence Number
Trailer ID
Original Test Expiry Date
Email trailer data to test.exemptions@dvsa.gov.uk.
